The Italian Star
Posted in tribute of the 25th anniversary of Mr. Giovanni's passing
To my friend Kathleen Russo: It was a privilege to create an homage to your father's cousin.
Saying goodbye often echoes a whispering hello
In that moment, the spirit does glow
For you, Giovanni
Gentle and luminescent soul
Touching many a heart
Embodiment of courageous grace
Not just one limited role
Your eyes laughed and sparkled
Mirroring beauty in all of your days
Bringing joy and peace to others in many ways
You were brother, uncle and so much more
You could firmly guide and didn't often roar
Sweetness and kindness were a bright light
Transcending both human touch and sight
Saying goodbye often reflects a poignant hello
For you, Giovanni, our shining Italian Star
We remember and honor you
In places both near and far
